On God's Time "When I Saw Heaven"

Often we are in a hurry to accomplish everything that we have planned in our lives. We either feel like time is running out or we just get eager and want everything right at this moment. When we do not get what we want when we want, we often become frustrated and upset.

God knows our wishes. He knows what we want in life. God understands how we feel about our days. He knows that we often worry about whether or not we are going to be able to accomplish everything that life has to offer. God knows so well that He will not allow us to die until He feels that we have done everything in His plan.

God might now allow us to have everything we want but we will have everything we need. We might not be able to travel as much as we would like or have the amount of money we strive for. God cannot give us every single thing that we want because it is not always what we need. Sometimes what we want will not benefit us and the Lord knows this so he keeps it from us.

God does not keep things from us to punish us. He keeps things from us to make us better. As you know, I love sports. Skiing and surfing are my favorite sports but I love all sports. Growing up I was a very good athlete. I made the varsity basketball team, was playing tennis and could have made the varsity tennis team as well but I had to choose my sport. God gave me the gift of being athletic but I could not play every sport because it was too much.

I really wanted to play every sport and be varsity in every sport. I could have but God had a different plan for my life. God made me the best at skiing and He pulled me away from basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball and surfing so I could ski. God's plan was for me to be a skier but there were times when I wanted to be a soccer player or tennis player or basketball player. God could not allow me to be all because it did not fit what He had in store for me.

God was not punishing me by keeping me from becoming varsity in all the sports I loved. He was keeping me out of most varsity sports so I could fulfill the plan He had for my life. When you feel that God is keeping something out of your life that you really want, ask Him why. Ask God what His plan is for you and follow whatever it is that God is calling you to do.
